MY APPROACH

Chip Pegram and Registered Client Associate, Karen Ingram, financial advisor, wealth management, investment services, Stifel, retirement planning, Greensboro, North Carolin

My approach to investing begins with developing a thorough understanding of my clients’ financial needs and goals, risk tolerance, and time horizon.  Using statistics-based investment planning tools available at Stifel, I am able to develop realistic expectations of what their financial future may look like based on their savings, spending behavior, and target investment allocation.  When we arrive at an appropriate asset allocation for their investments, I use a fee-based asset management approach to align their investments with their long-term objectives.

One of the many advisory programs at Stifel is the Solutions Program.  The Solutions Program allows approved Financial Advisors to provide customized investment management for clients, tailoring strategies based on an investor’s specific needs or objectives.  Additionally, having the ability to manage accounts on a discretionary basis allows Financial Advisors to quickly react to market conditions when executing an investment strategy.  It is also paramount that Solutions clients have detailed knowledge of their Financial Advisor’s individual investment philosophy and decision-making process before entrusting him or her with their portfolio.

My experience over the years with ever-changing markets, economic, and geopolitical conditions is an ongoing education that I have embraced and is a part of my daily life.  I believe in using fundamental analysis and technical analysis along with a healthy dose of common sense and an awareness of what is going on in the world from a macro perspective to make investment decisions.  I also strive to mitigate my clients’ emotions as it relates to their investment decisions.  Since we cannot know with certainty what the future holds, it is helpful to think in terms of probabilities and the investment process as opposed to reacting to emotions

Asset allocation does not ensure a profit or protect against loss.

In the Stifel Solutions Program, approved Financial Advisors manage their clients’ assets on a discretionary basis through the consistent application of a pre-screened investment process. Since all investment decisions in a Solutions account are made by the Financial Advisor(s) on the client’s behalf without having to receive prior approval, it enables the Financial Advisor(s) to quickly react to volatile market conditions in order to execute the investment strategy. It is also paramount that Solutions clients have detailed knowledge of their Financial Advisors’ individual investment philosophy and decision-making process before entrusting him or her with their portfolio. There is no guarantee that the objectives of the portfolio strategy will be achieved.

The Stifel Solutions Program has an annual asset-based fee (a “wrap fee”), charged quarterly, that covers the portfolio’s management services provided as well as certain other costs, including trade execution, custody, and performance reporting. There may be other costs associated with the Stifel Solutions Program, including but not limited to: underlying expenses of investment companies (such as ETFs) in which the strategy may invest, exchange fees, transfer fees, interest expense, and trade surcharges, which are not covered by the wrap fee but are borne directly by the client. Ask your Financial Advisor for a copy of Stifel’s Form ADV Part 2A – Wrap Disclosure Brochure (the “Disclosure Brochure”), which further outline the fees, services, exclusions, and disclosures associated with this program. You should consider all terms and conditions before deciding whether the Solutions Program and this strategy are appropriate for your needs.
